Benchmark indices settled the day with range-bound session on Friday, with the Sensex rising 4 points to 28,334 while the broader Nifty50 up 15 points at 8,793. In the broader market, BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap indices added 0.2% each. Sentiment was also affected since Asian shares rallied to an 18-month climax on Friday, as investors were hopeful on upbeat Chinese trade data.
About 1533 shares declined, while 1311 shares advanced on the BSE. Infosys, Wipro and TCS gained for third successive session, rising 0.7 to 2.9% in spite of rupee gains against US dollar.
Adani Ports gained 2.3%. ITC, ICICI Bank, Lupin, HDFC, Asian Paints and Dr Reddy’s Labs were down 0.6 to 2%. Oil & Gas sector was the major sectoral loser dragged by IOC, GAIL and BPCL. GAIL fell 1.5% ahead of its third quarter earnings.
